Learning should be an enjoyable and rewarding experience but also, one relevant for our day-to-day life.
I work with students, across the age range, to help ensure that individual potential is realised. It is vital that learning is secure and confidently in-place and where acquired skills can be applied across school studies (with coursework and exams) and beyond school – after all, this is about preparing learners for life outside the classroom.
My approach is relaxed, yet focussed. My students do well – success is garnered as much through engagement and enjoyment, as it is through engagement and study.
Wherever the skills need to be strengthened and developed, this informs my planning before each lesson.
- Reading and responding to comprehension
- Spelling technique and accuracy
- Writing creatively and descriptively
- Writing across the formats (letter writing, writing to persuade / inform / entertain)
- Exam technique (time-management / writing with clarity in timed conditions
- Speaking in public / speech writing
- Critical thinking
Being an examiner as well as a teacher and tutor means I can really focus on building up student confidence and skill-sets to prepare for exams – and to enjoy the process.
I have a real passion for enabling learners to build up a love for the written and spoken word as well as confidence with exam skills – I consider them to be opportunities more than anything!
I understand exam syllabi and can break them down into units that allow for progress and understanding that feels natural – and developing a love for language and expression is all a part of the process.
I offer a taster session at no charge to all new learners. I tutor from age 7 years upwards, to A level.
“Lynn was exceptional in not only producing successful results but also building confidence, developing perception and a more analytical way of thinking. Both my daughters really enjoyed their tutor time with Lynn finding her to be very relaxed and friendly. Lynn is an excellent tutor and our experience was 100% positive.” (Parent of learners in Year 9 and Year 11)
‘’My daughter is very happy with the style of teaching and appreciates Lynn’s in-depth knowledge of the subjects she teaches’’ Parent of A level student
“I love writing and Lynn’s creative writing classes [online] gave me a chance to express that and she shows us different techniques and makes it something you can really look forward to. At the start I can’t wait then after it’s over I can’t keep my excitement in until the next week! Thank you Lynn.“ (A Year 4 /5 student)
Fees vary depending on age / level of tuition. I tutor for young learners, as well as those preparing for A levels and the fees reflect this.
I can offer one-to-one tuition as well as tuition for small groups. Again, fees vary according to this.
Sessions can start at half an hour (ideal for younger learners, especially online) and incremnetally increase up to two hours, depending on student requirements.
I try to be as flexible as possible and understand life can happen unexpectedly – my T&Cs try to reflect the need for some flexibility, for both parties.
Fees via BACS where possible. Alternative methods of payment will be operational soon.
